These "non profit" organizations such as mercyhurst that are quickly expanding should be more closely monitored.

Please help our students and our schools. Human resources are the best resources we have and without proper education we lose the best of what we have. Our students are worth the effort.

Educating our children should be a priority! They really are our future! All children need to be funded equally.

I have worked as a volunteer with the Erie's Public Schools for the last 18 years and I am amazed that the funding for them is so inadequate. The children in these schools are our future. Underfund them and you underfund your city's own future. Fund them properly, and you will reap the rewards of that investment.

Perhaps our State government might consider why they exist: “…The powers delegated by the proposed constitution to the federal government, are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the state governments, are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several states will extend to all the objects, which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people; and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the state...” James Madison, Federalist 45 “…Promote then, as an object of primary importance, institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge. In proportion as the structure of a government gives force to public opinion, it is essential that public opinion should be enlightened….it is essential that you should practically bear in mind that towards the payment of debts there must be revenue; that to have revenue there must be taxes; that no taxes can be devised which are not more or less inconvenient and unpleasant; that the intrinsic embarrassment, inseparable from the selection of the proper objects, which is always a choice of difficulties, ought to be a decisive motive for a candid construction of the conduct of the government in making it, and for a spirit of acquiescence in the measures for obtaining revenue, which the public exigencies may at any time dictate…” George Washington, Farewell Address, 1796
