The funding for Catharpin Park was initially included in the FY 2013 budget, but was stripped from the budget at the last minute because of some political infighting on the Board of Supervisors.  These political battles unfairly punish the children who need to have Catharpin Park available for use.  

The defunding of Catharpin Park creates a huge and unacceptable gap in the availability of playing fields that youth sports activities require in the western end of Prince William County.  This critical lack of fields has forced sports organizations to literally turn away hundreds of children who want to participate, but cannot because of the shortage of playing fields.  

The time has come for the Board of County Supervisors to stop the politics at the door -- and fully fund Catharpin Park as a part of the carry-over budget process in August.

We strongly urge your swift action to expedite the completion of Catharpin Park.
