How fortunate that so many trained public health officials and epidemiologists have come together to ensure the privileged can get back to their normal lives. The mitigation plan and precautions appear to be effective, so let’s dial them back and see what the bare minimum is that has to be done. While we are at it, let’s dismiss the already watered-down CDC guidelines as optional, and subsequently irrelevant. Then we can all complain about how terrible our lives are when the school has to close down completely for the fall and winter. Rock solid plan.

I am in full support of the students returning to full day in person instruction. As a mental healthcare professional I have seen first hand what isolation can do to children and it isn’t good. The kids need to be back in school not only to keep them from falling behind the rest of the country academically but also for their social and emotional health. I understand the teacher’s are concerned for their safety but all essential workers are taking a risk when they go to work.

Please fully re-open D101 schools. The short term and long term damage to our youth will be irreversible. It’s been almost 7 months since we shut down in March. It’s time to get them back into school full time!
