I think it is outrageous that 18 or so people can decide secretly that they're going to hijack the town at the elections. Obviously they could care less about the good of the town and what the majority might want, just what they want. Hence their secrecy.

The election process should be completely transparent. Manipulation of the process by a selected cohort of interested parties is decidedly undemocratic, no matter what the the legal beagles say.
