Mike O'Brien, your 'bleeding heart' is destroying our parks. Children can no longer play in portions of the Ballard Common's due to safety concerns. Shame on you.

Tenting anywhere in the city is NOT a long-term or acceptable solution to homelessness. We must move forward with increasing the short-term housing needs, providing social services AND removing illegal camps.

As a resident and first responder in Seattle the state of our city is unacceptable. Clean up our city.

Seriously? How many times do your citizens of Seattle have to tell you that allowing camping isn't going to work. The petition requests, as do most of your citizens, to help get homeless people off the streets. Not encourage them to stay on the streets!

I am against this new proviso. It doesn’t work on nyc or Portland.

We need fewer encampments, not more. We need to move people off the streets and into housing. Nobody should have to spend even one might sleeping outdoors.

Continue the efforts to offer support services as it appears that is being successful.

We must find constructive ways to help the homeless, that will move them into safe housing and shelters while protecting them from harm. This City cannot be overrun by the hardcore homeless population who chose this lifestyle to support their illegal activities and refuse legitimate offers of services. They are running rampant in my neighborhood of Ballard, camping in very dangerous places making many beautiful parks, trails and even public streets unsafe for law abiding citizens to even walk on, let alone enjoy. This proviso only encourages more of the hardcore element to continue their blatant disregard for the law and safety of others while flaunting their "rights" to camp anywhere they please, leaving their needles and trash to impact the value of our communities. You were elected to enforce the values and safety of the citizens of Seattle, not to line the pockets of ineffective and overpriced "service provider" contracts. Get your values and priorities in line with your electorate.

I'm completely disappointed in the reasons why we need to allow homeless encampments in our city's green spaces and that certain members of our city council seem unwilling to really take action with proactive measures.

I consider myself a liberal, but the wrong-headed thinking of many civic leaders has me alarmed. Rationality is losing out to some kind of weird idea about what it means to be a "good" human being.

Please remove the proviso that would hinder efforts to relocate homeless in green spaces.
