We, the parents, staff, and stakeholders of VSY students petition the city of Fort Lauderdale to supply an effectively trained School Resource Officer to be present during all hours that students are on campus. We will not wait for policies and politics to change to keep our kids safe. We demand that the City of Fort Lauderdale fully fund an effective full time SRO immediately at VSY.

I have been staring at the city council website all morning just trying to figure out which committee actually holds the purse strings for campus safety because the circular responses from the main office are driving me up a wall. It feels like everyone is passing the buck while our kids keep walking through those halls without proper coverage and honestly it is exhausting to keep explaining why this is urgent to people who just want us to wait for the next budget cycle.

Also, the district shouldn't allow public voting to take place at our school during days when students are on campus. This exposes our students to unnecessary risk, especially during drop off time in the morning!
Keep our children safe! Lets prevent future violence instead of only having to respond to violence, which has proven ineffective in the past.
This is very important we need an resource officer at all times that students are in schoil and after school activities always.
Our kids deserve a well trained police professional to protect our kids. Now more than ever .
In order for us to send our kids to public school we need you to protect our school .
Unfortunately this is a must in schools no matter what age group they are.

Our children's lives are important. It shouldn't be at risk while on the road to success. Every child should feel safe going to school. No parent should have any fears bringing their children to school. Please get us an officer on campus!
