We need soccer fields in Manhattan. The downtown area has exploded with young families with children in the last decade, and if anything, we need more not less sport fields.

We can't just rely on Pier 40 and Randall's Island, which isn't practical for weekday use.

NYC needs to keep soccer for the youth. We need to use activities like sports to keep kids off the streets.

I grew up playing soccer at pier 40. Is one of the few truly open soccer facilities in nyc. It is instrumental in the development of youth soccer players.

The fields have to stay. There is already not enough space in NYC to play the world's most important sport.

We need to keep these pitches for recreation, for our kids and ourselves. Healthy lives, healthy minds.

As a downtown kid I played soccer and softball on the local fields and it was such an important part of my childhood! Please use the Gansevoort pier to make playing fields so more kids can have that experience

I urge you to consider accommodating a full-sized field when designing the new space at the Gansevoort Peninsula (āGPā.)

There are SO many new developments and families moving into CB2 that if we just have passive parks that only can accomodate a few people per square foot, it's just not the right design for the city. Active parks accomodate hundreds of thousands of children per year, orders of magnitude more than passive parks. We should be advocating to build infra that would accomodate the most number of familiems since these parks are the only opportunity to do so.
