I have been staring at these local board of education meeting agendas for hours and it is honestly wild how little space they give to what families actually need during these public comments. People keep messaging me with their own stories about scheduling chaos and I am trying to keep track of everyone while I prepare our presentation because this really matters for the kids who are just trying to get through their first year of school.

The half day schedule is a total nightmare for our family. We pay enough in taxes already and shouldn't have to scramble for private aftercare every single day.
Research continues to show academic improvement in children who attend full day kindergarten!
Thanks for getting a petition going, its a great idea becuase I think the children are ready for more learning time at this age. However, I suggest you'd get a ton more support if you made it less your being a working mom up front - that's irrelevant- all moms work some of us have careers outside the home, others in the home - just just make it about how what it's really about - how this is better for our children you will likely maximize support. Tks again
As a working mother, the current K half-day program is extremely difficult. With property taxes in Rye at an all-time high, it is unreasonable to pay for additional child care / extension programs. I am also a professor of Childhood Education at Fordham University's Graduate School of Education, and well versed in the research which shows the necessity of early childhood education to prepare students for the demands of the Common Core State Standards.
I am full support for full day K. My daughter goes full day pre-k and needs a full day K program. And to add I am a working mom.

Whatever happened to the board meeting that was scheduled for January 27th? -- it was the day of the big snowstorm -- was it ever rescheduled?
