Full Competition Pools for Harford County High School Swimmers

This situation is absurd. PLEASE install all starting blocks immediately, and certify their safety. Our student athletes deserve better, and they deserve the times they’ve worked so hard to achieve!

Please take action for our student athletes. Starting blocks are a key piece of equipment in swim as a sport; would this lack of action be found in any other sport?

Fix and allow swimmers to use diving blocks. Keep pools up to par.

I agree 200%. I am in disbelief that if the installer didn’t understand the regulations and placed the blocks over the edge of the pool (causing a disadvantage), why wasn’t a swim representative consulted on requirements? Why are our kids having to pay the price? Who ever installed the darn phone v

This is crazy that we are STILL fighting for proper facilities for our athletes after two years. Please give swimmers the same respect you’d be giving other sports.

Git-R-Done Approve the Blocks and give these kids the outlet to swim

It is ridiculous that these kids can’t use the blocks. The county should be helping get through the red tape ASAP. Why do parents and community members have to sign a petition to get this done? Sad! Our county swimmers deserve better.

I have seen numerous swimmers slip when diving from the edge of the pool.

High school swimming is a great sport. They need the starting blocks!!

If this was a basketball backboard or a football goal post, it would’ve been fixed 18 months ago (or more)

This also has affected 2 years of swim times for swimmers that would like to go onto college teams.

If football facilities are in good condition there is zero reason why swimming facilities in the same good condition.

These kids need safe and properly equipped facilities and certainly more than two of them.

Please give Harford Co more pools for these wonderful swimmers to help them achieve their goals and reach for the future! Thank you

I would also add that as a timer at almost every meet, I have seen swimmer after swimmer slip on the mats or tiles being used in place of blocks. It is an equal safety hazard to continue this unsafe practice.

Harford County Swimming is a big part of a child’s development and is an enjoyable activity. We need to provide a good environment for kids to blossom. Please inspect the blocks and build a full competition dive and swim place for our children to grow

It is my understanding that these blocks have been installed for quite a while. The other issue is that swimmers are diving off rubber mats that could cause them to slip.
