The owner of the property on both sides of the Front Beach access road are trying to claim the road as their own under the quieting titles act. They have put in an application to the Supreme Court of PEI. There has been an access road to Front Beach for many decades now and we feel that closing this road to quiet their land title will cause damage to the quality of life of local and summer residents. If you use this beach and have used this access road to access this beach, then please sign this petition to try and stop the owners of the land from reclaiming this access road.
Out of respect to the owners, they have asked that we post the following
"This petition suggests the the owner is about to close community access to the
beach This is false. This has has caused unfounded apprehension in the
community.
We are therefore asking that you post the following points on this petition
page."
1. The "Quieting of Title" will not affect the existing community
access to the beach.
2. The owner and her family have always supported and
will continue to support community access to the beach.
3. The owner of the
property is Penny Welch, 91 years old, a summer resident of Fortune, with her
family, since 1958. She is putting her affairs in order.
4. Presently, parts
of the deed are based on surveys from over 100 years ago. "Quieting of Title" is
being undertaken to up-date the legal description.
Sincerely
Tom Welch
