Petition to save Whin Park
The Highland Council wants to build a West road link between the Southern Distributor Road at Dores Road and the A82 over the River Ness and the Caledonian Canal. This proposal was rejected by the Scottish Government. The Council have put out for public consultation eight options for the route the road link would take. Three of the eight options take the route through Whin Park. Options 3, 4 and 5 take the route through Whin Park. Option 2 takes the route through the rugby ground. Both the rugby ground and Whin Park are areas of land which are owned by the common good fund. They are popular open spaces which are used for recreation by local people of Inverness. This use is in keeping with the original purchase of the land for the common good. None of the eight options include the option of no west road link. By not including this option the Council are not engaging with the people of Inverness who do not see the need and/or do not want a west road link. Sign this petition if you fully support the inclusion of a ‘no west road link’ option in the public consultation.
