Friends 0f Father Tucker Park is a group of resident and community members working together to make Father Tucker Park the best it can be. We have accomplished some great things but we cannot do it alone we need the help of the community and the participation of our city to make a vision into a reality. Parks and green space are essential when you speak about what makes a healthy community. The community, the economy and the environment all gain from a healthy park. Unfortunately this great park over the years has begun to wither away due to time and the lack of maintenance. Father Tucker park playground is in need of renovations to the play equipment, the landscape and the overall beautification. Friends of Father Tucker have worked hard to organize clean ups, activities, events and have mad some minor changes to the beauty of the park but more needs to be done. We would like to begin by raising the necessary funds to renovate the upper playground area. we face many challenges in our efforts, we know that in order to make the modifications that the community envisions for the park we must have the support of the City of Wilmington. Due to the disputes over the city's budget there is no clear cut designation of funds to renovate community parks but there is money available. In order to secure these funds we must appeal to the city and help to make them realize just how important Father Tucker park is to us and the need.
