One of the state's truly great airports. We often use it for day trips to the hot springs, or biking.

The fewer the landing sites there are in the mountains, the less safe it is for us to fly. Please reopen as soon as possible to keep us safe and coming to your town.

If needed small aircraft like those usually parked at Glenwood help to bring in revenue by advertising to other pilots how good the airport is and how close restaurants and hotels are located. Please do not close this airport!

Airports are important parts of communities, especially those like Glenwood Springs where natural disasters can close off highway access. Airports train future airline and military pilots. They employ flight instructors and aircraft mechanics who are the people who keep airliners flying. They act as barriers against urban sprawl and actually form open space in otherwise densely populated areas. And certainly, they bring in people who choose to fly as opposed to drive. In truth, many choose to travel by air because bumper to bumper traffic is not appealing. Airports bring in tourists and businesses and serve the already extant business community. Shutting them down makes no more sense than does throwing away everything in your tool box thinking you will never need it again.

Airports such as this one are an extremely valuable asset to any community. City councils that do not realize this need to do more homework on the "hidden" value in local airports.

Using the COVID situation as an excuse to achieve an unrelated political objective is shameful. This community asset belongs to the public and needs to be reopened.

I am a private pilot who has used the Glenwood Springs Airport in the past. I think closing the Airport as a response to COVID-19 makes little sense: pilots are responsible adults who know how to practice social distancing, and there are legitimate reasons to land at GWS that don't put locals at additional risk. I have, for instance, delivered urgently needed medical supplies to rural Colorado hospitals using my airplane through Angel Flight West.

Please do not close! I enjoy visiting Glenwood Springs with my airplane to train for high altitude flying. I spend money while I'm there....I won't drive.
