Some streets are no parking on the alternative side (in front of Sunset Terrace Elementary). This creates an every other day parking nightmare! This also makes people who have to park on the street move their car every day. This is bad for the environment!

The day I got my ticket, there was no snow in sight and no snow in the forecast. It was also 7:30 in the morning and we were going to be leaving for work in an hour.

This law is ridiculous! I live in Country Club Manor. There is absolutely no snow and the street sweepers didn’t come to clean the streets today. It’s not snowing. I pulled my car out of my driveway at 630 am to let roommate go to work at Mayo Clinic today and parked it in front of my house. It’s not snowing. The streets are clear of snow. I have pictures. I got a ticket for $35 dollars. I called and someone and they said that I have to go to a city council meeting to dispute my ticket. I said there is a virus going around I don’t want to go to a city council meeting. She said I can go online and fill out something and they will get back to you. This stupid ticket goes up $5 a week. I know the government works. It would be weeks before someone gets back to me. Stop stealing my money. There is no snow on our street! There wasn’t a street cleaner that came by today!

I support parking restrictions to keep the roads maintained.
But moving cars every day from October to May is too much.
Restrictions should be in place if snowfall exceeds one inch.

How about no parking for an 4 hour period once a week on each street with the time/day different for each street in a way that is sensible? 4 hours is enough for the streets to be thoroughly cleaned.

From the beginning this ordinance has been a huge strain to many citizens in our community. It was passed with very little discussion, certainly those most affected had no idea of the implications to their daily life. We own rental property throughout Rochester. I can tell you that those of lower incomes, living in homes that do not have large parking areas have suffered needlessly because of this ordinance. It has cut parking in half, causing residents to park longer distances from home for 7months out of the year. Requiring the elderly, and those working unconventional work shifts to wake up or leave the comfort of home simply to move their vehicle to the alternate side of the street. Being ticketed for parking in front of your own home on days requiring absolutely no street maintenance is unfair and a needless burden.

How about an app, that works in conjunction with public works Dept. That can give us realtime positions of the plow trucks, when their in the neighborhood. With an alert system to let us know when their nearby.

This ordinance was a knee-jerk response to an abnormally snowy winter 2yrs ago. Have a normal snow emergency season and enforce it when you do!
