Fresh-Ucation educates our community about food deserts and helps develop a plan for action. In doing this, we understand that the food provided in our area is not quality or affordable in the Hilltop community. This is our call to action. The Hilltop community needs nutritional and accessible quality food, yet this area is a well known food desert. Food desert does not mean without food, but without nutritional and affordable food within a community. Having access to only unhealthy food such as the food provided by the fast food industry all around Hilltop leads to major health problems such as obesity, diabetes and other issues. This is unacceptable because having access to healthy food should be a basic human right, yet in Hilltop this right is denied. We as a community want change once and for all.
