Frenchtown Preservation - No (More) Student Housing

Please vote NO on the proposed sale of the property for this student housing development. The proposal is not aligned with what the people of the Frenchtown community want, it is not aligned with the revitalization of Frenchtown and it does not provide resources for the people of that community.

Frenchtown deserves better. Invest in locals.

Frenchtown belongs to permanent residents. There's enough student sprawl in Tallahassee. Frenchtown redevelopment should focus on providing jobs and business ownership opportunities for those living in Frenchtown already. There is a need for affordable housing for workers and young professionals who want to live downtown. But there are several substandard units just south of Cascades currently occupied by those groups that would benefit from redevelopment with slightly higher density housing--multiflat units or rowhouses instead of separated duplexes and triplexes. That would solve several challenges.

Listen to what the people want, not what your wallets want.

This is an opportunity for the city of tallahassee to prove that this city is more than just a tourist stop for fsu students.

Stop the gentrification of Frenchtown. As a Tallahassee native, I urge city commissioners to VOTE NO on the sale of this public land.

I just moved in this area to get away from students. I hated living near student living. I've just started to love living here and I would hate to see it ruined.

I strongly oppose more student development in this neighborhood, as it will lead to further gentrification of this are.

Student housing does not fit in with the character of Frenchtown. What on earth or the planners thinking?

There seems to be constant development on student housing because a quick buck can be made, but when do we hit a breaking point. This overpriced, temporary, rental based housing does nothing to provide permenant residents or the community anything to build upon. It makes developers money and further fragments an already underprivileged neighborhood. If we want to see how community informed revitalization can be realized I point you to Dudley street in Boston . There is a great documentary on it.

Please do not build student housing in our historic Frenchtown District. This would be detrimental to its residents who already face great economic pains.

It's hard enough for locals/non-students to find affordable housing in this town. Please don't make it worse

Please keep the student housing separate from this historic neighborhood. The constant turnover of rentals does grievous harm to the strength of the community!
