Let me preface this petition by saying that I'm very biased in this situation.

My name is Joseph Hoyt and I'm a former Serra student and football player. I've won a CCS Championship and I know how rewarding and fun that experience can be.

Which leads me to say I'm shocked and disturbed by the Central Coast Section's decision to ban Serra from the playoffs for two years,

Don't take away the amazing experience that is meaningful high school football away from these kids.

There are many sides to this argument -- this is mine.

I know how powerful free speech can be. Let's see it in action.

As a former high school football player, a third place victory would have felt meaningless. As an adult, aware of the injuries caused by the sport, I'm glad the boys didn't play for 3rd. Punishing the next wave of student athletes is a poor excuse for a lack of effort by the CCS board.

I'm a very proud Serra Padre Mom and have two sons, c/o 2013 and 2016. Went through the experience of CCS post season and took great pride in wearing the blue and gold representing the Serra Padre Community against the top competition of the CCS. I'm in full support of Coach Walsh in his decision.

Don't punish the kids coming up in the Serra program for something they had no control of. It was Coach Walsh and his staff that made the decision. Shame on the CCS Commissioner for not coming up with a better way to handle this issue. Remember its about the kids and having a great experience being able to play football in HS and having that chance to compete in CCS playoff

Although the decision not to play may be unjust on the administrations part, it is selfish and arrogant to punish student athletes and compromise their football career; Two wrongs do not make a right.

It is a cruel punishment to not let kids enjoy the competition that is the playoffs, the entire current sophmore class will never play in a playoff CCS game. Kids deserve to have these moments while we're young.

Coach Walsh is a legend, he cares about his students. Knowing full well how a history of concussions, or tear of a repaired CL, can end a career before it started, he decided to forfeit. Milpitas advances, can't be so bad to suspend like that. Make JSHS pay the fine, they have the coffers for. Then call it a day.

The CCS is a money grabbing joke.
