NYU Magnet Lounge for All
The NYU Magnet Lounge was originally designed as a lounge space for all Poly students to use as well as classroom space for the Integrated Media Design students. However, due to some students' negligence in housekeeping etiquette, the Poly executives decided that the Magnet Lounge is exclusive for Game Center and Media Design students. This, obviously, upsets most of the students who are not Game Center/DM students who use this space to study, hang out, etc. The Dibner Library is often over crowded, the Club Room in Dibner is rarely opened, and the Regna Lounge is often loud and crowded. It is understandable that the classrooms should be restricted to only DM students for their classes. A proposition is that the Magnet Lounge (at least the open lounge spaces such as the kitchen area, tables outside classrooms, etc) should be accessible to all Poly students. Currently Poly students are allowed access to all NYU buildings (for example, Stern is accessible to even Poly students who do not currently take classes there) so why should Magnet Lounge be an exception. This petition is not guaranteed to bring immediate change; however, if students sign this petition, we, as a part of the student body, can bring awareness to the executives in charge of this decision to exclude Magnet Lounge from the rest of the Poly student body and hopefully they will change their minds.
