Please keep mask optional. Not all of our students can hear or speak well on these. They have been known to trigger migraines in both students and teachers.

Mask should be optional. Parents should have choice of what they want their child to do. I work at the school and my kids and I were both exhausted after wearing a mask all day at school when we got home. It’s not good. Its hot and miserable. At our open house it was so d so special to get to see these pretty little faces smiling without them wearing these mask. Kids looked happier. Happiness in these children lives is very important in the success for the children with there school work to relationships with their peers. My own child has asked at least few times week last two weeks “mom do we have to wear mask”? Please don’t make me have to do this again. That tells me all I need to know there. Please keep this a choice in Catawba county schools like it should be. Thanks

I sincerely hope when you're making the decision on masks for the upcoming school year, you will make it optional and consider those parents who feel that masks are physically, emotionally and psychologically damaging to our children.
I believe the children have been through enough this past year, and to continue to force masks upon them, will cause irreparable developmental challenges for years to come.

It should stay optional. Children went through so much last year. It is not healthy for a child to wear a mask for about 7 hrs. a day. If a parent wants their child to wear a mask that is their prerogative, but don't try to tell another parent how to raise their child. If teachers are worried then they should mask up. Enough is enough.
