This petition was created for the purpose of supporting yocairis diaz. 17 year old female, domestic violence victim who is being wrongly accused of a murder incident in which she clearly was defending her own life.Known as a happy go lucky young women, with dreams of attending college and becoming a productive member of society by family and friends.Diaz now faces charges in the death of half brother Frank Fortuna age 20, crime offender who was known to have a violent background and very often Diaz found her self in the forefront of his violent out brakes. On a late September afternoon a battered Diaz was confronted by Frank Fortuna and wrongly accused of stealing his cellphone.Fortuna enraged proceeded to strangle diaz with a heavy chain object, the young female not a stranger to this oppression,distraught and scared for her life made a 911 call in which she told operators to send help over fast before she kills this guy referring to Fortuna a person who she did not recognize due to the aggressive nature which was pushed over the limit that afternoon by aggressor Fortuna.A description in which she thought would save her life, assuming nypd officials would respond to the call quicker.After the call a fuming Fortuna once again pursued Diaz in which at this point she feared for her life, as an immediate defense Diaz swung a kitchen knife in hopes of backing off Fortuna and in turn accidentally caused his death striking Fortuna in the neck. A second call was made to officials to report the incident by Diaz and a battered and scared Diaz found refuge at a friends house,were she shortly after detained.The sole purpose of this petition is to raise awareness against the rising violence against young women, who in the majority of the cases feel alone and without a voice. Also to seek justice for Yocairis Diaz and any inner city young female going through the same circumstance.This petition also welcomes the help of any organization fighting for women's rights and equality and the fight against domestic violence towards women.
