Mr. Javid Rahman,
As a result of the widespread occurrence of Corona virus in Iran we need urgently to bring your attention to the alarming situation of prisoners of conscience in Iran
In accordance with ICCPR, adequate or appropriate and timely medical care must be provided to all detainees as part of state duties to ensure the enjoyment by all persons of the rights under article 6, 7 and 10 of the ICCPR.

Furthermore, The Nelson Mandela Rules stresses the overriding principle that all prisoners shall be treated with respect due to their inherent dignity and value as human being and that prisoners will be protected from torture and other cruel or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

It is however with great regret that we note, despite Iran being a state party to the ICCPR and in its absence of objection to the Nelson Mandela Rule, the continuing violations of Human Rights by the Islamic republic of Iran with regards to prisoners' right to Health care and Medical treatment. Deprivation of health care and medical treatment is widely used by the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a method to force confessions and torture and has now escalated according to our sources from within the infamous Evin Prison.

The prisoners are systematically being denied timely and appropriate medical care and considering many of the prisoners' already deteriorating health due to systematic tortures, medical maltreatment and hunger-strikes, these individuals are at high risk for being infected with Covid-19 and are at high mortality risk.

Mr Mohammad Nourizad, Mr Abbas Vahedian Shahroodi, Mr Absolrasoul Mortazavi, Mr Mohammad Hossein Sepehri Mrs Fatemeh Sepehri, Mr Hashem Khastar, Mr Reza Mehregan and Mrs Samaneh Nouroozi Moradi, are all prisoner of conscience, diagnosed with severe medical conditions, suffering life-threatening diseases, all being continuously denied medical treatment as well as torture as a means to coerce public.
