I don't personally know Tom, but I have followed the trial from the very beginning and can only describe it as a complete JOKE! All three of these boys deserve a proper retrial through the appeal process! Let's hope and pray they get one as justice has NOT been served until they do.

Followed this case through its corse and I am in no doubt that the sentence is far to servere for the circumstances and evidence. No regular person hasn't been out after dark and been unfortunate to be involved in some form of altercation, yet no person goes out actively looking for it. I have known Tom for several years and am happy to say he is an honest normal man who would not look to be involved in this form of altercation. It's a disgrace he and his family should suffer for this punishment that clearly is not representive of the alleged crime. L J Buliivant.

no consistency from the courts once again, what possible good could come from taking a man away from a loving family and more to the point a father away from his children punishment should be about rehabilitating people not ruining more life's shocking decision influenced by the age of the victim and then treating him like the hero who came to save the day rather than the man who should of stayed well clear of the situation and called the police if he was worried. I'm sure all parties regret what has happened to the victim but these situations arise all over the country on a regular basis and most are punished with a slap on the wrist. It should be the act that is punished and not swayed by the resultant injurys or the age of the person involved as the act is always the same and not variables like the other two complete double standerds

He should be not be in prison after reading the lack of evidence there is to suggest that he did anything wrong! Picking 3 out of 15 is an unfair injustice!

This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. These so called police who supposed to be keeping us safe are locking innocent people up with hardly any evidence. Think they need to think harder when employing police. Stupid! Hope they get home where they should be. Keep your Heads up high families!

these lads have been used as an example and passed far too harsh a sentence. Similar incidents have never been brought to prosecution in the same town. I feel they have been victimised, should receive lesser penalty, & all involved should receive a penalty. They are good family working lads who got dragged into a bad situation
