I've signed a petition like this to get gender neutral toilets at my own college, and using them made me feel the safest I have in a long time

I work at your institution and a quote like the one referenced here makes me feel sick. 'The student experience' is thrown around a lot by the senior manager, let's make it even simpler, this is about 'the human experience'.

I agree and stuff

Access to appropriate toilet facilities is a basic right and without such access there can be no access to education, no progression through university and it risks students dropping out or adverse health issue related to not being able to pee all day.

There is no excuse for not being inclusive of all identities and I hope that this person gets the apology they deserve

This sort of derision is totally unacceptable and it is damaging to the University’s reputation.

Comments made were outrageous and offensive. There should be adequate gender neutral toilet provision which is not just the disabled toilet!

I think the equal distribution of multi occupancy toilets is a good idea as it then frees up the specially designed disabled toilets for their intended users and helps the rest of the university cohort to feel safe and empiwered

Although I won't be a student at Waterside, I'm signing this on behalf of the people (including freshers) who will be affected by this if they are not provided for. Paying £9,000+ to a uni to then feel that your gender identity or genuine disability is ignored is disgusting. I have an anxiety disorder so i do currently use the all-gender toilet on Avenue to avoid panic attacks but its multi use as a disabled bathroom does pose issues.

Equating non-binary and trans people to vampires and trees is cruel and unnecessary. It's really not that hard to have gender neutral toilets - I mean, we all have them at home!

This kind of attitude is not acceptable in a modern university. Numerous stakeholders have now raised the issue of gender neutral toilets and there has been plenty of time to provide an adequate response.

As someone who works in a university (not UoN) those comments are totally unprofessional and out of place. We have gender neutral facilities and others should too

Hi. My name is Owen Morris and I work in the University's Marketing department. I understand your frustration here, and hope I can go some way to helping by saying that Waterside will absolutely have gender neutral toilets. This is something the university has fully endorsed as policy since it was introduced at our current campuses in 2015 after consultation with our students. You are quite right that everyone must feel safe and accepted at this university - because they are. I believe that at the last count there were 33 gender neutral toilets within the Learning Hub, Creative Hub and Senate in total, but I would be happy to double check that number for you. I would also like to help address the other concerns you have but will need you to elaborate if possible.
