We, the undersigned, call for the immediate release of Lama Al-Sawwaf and Nada Al-Ghabra, two Syrian women who have dedicated their lives to protecting and nurturing orphans and children with special needs.

For over 40 years, Lama worked as a humanitarian, educator, and caregiver. Alongside Nada, she led Asafir al-Jannah, a center for children with developmental disabilities, and supervised over 120 orphans at Lahn al-Hayat—many of whom now thrive as adults thanks to their care.

Appointed by the late humanitarian Hajjah Amal Khani, they carried forward a legacy of mercy and service. Lama even earned a master’s in special needs care after age 60 to better serve the children

They are now unjustly imprisoned.

Their arrest is a tragedy for the children they helped, and a warning to those who dedicate their lives to compassion.

We demand:

• Their immediate release

• Restoration of their dignity

• Recognition of their lifelong humanitarian work

Let justice speak for mercy.

Free Lama and Nada.
