Currently, Fig Dipper PuErh and other wondrous teas are being held by UK customs because of a bureaucratic error in paperwork. Please sign this petition to show UK customs how much this tea means to you.

DETAILS:

We import tea constantly from many countries. There are a few bits of paperwork required and for this shipment the supplier forgot to write the word TEA on one of the 3 documents (they wrote TEAWARE because the tea came with lots of teaware). The other 2 documents did declare the tea so this was not an attempt at smuggling but simply a mistake by the supplier.

UK Border Force have seized the tea and refused our first appeal. This is our last appeal and if we do not succeed in showing them how much we love this tea they will destroy all of the tea at the end of March.

The momentum is incredible. This shows customs exactly how much this tea belongs in our cups instead of a landfill.

Don't destroy this tea! A lot of work from farmers has gone into it, see the videos on YouTube! All hand picked and processed with love from families in Yunnan! Would love to taste it. Would be an absolute shame to destroy over such minute detail.

I have been buying tea from Mei leaf for years know and they are amazing people and it would be a shame to see this tea get thrown away because Mei Leaf spent so much time trying to find it so they can show people how amazing tea culture is

Given previous consistent, similar dealings, there is little reason to assume bad faith. This good faith clerical mistake gives rise to an all but arbitrary government taking developed countries denounce, not celebrate. Free the tea.

Bureaucratic errors should not prevent safe things from entering through official ports of entry. A good faith mistake should be occasionally accommodated so long as the privilege is not abused. Please allow entry of this fine tea. Thank you.

There is no reason to destroy a high quality food item because of a clerical error. This is clearly not an attempt at smuggling. Wouldn't it be more fair to have a resolution process and instead a small possible fine/fee for the company that made the mistake?

What a devesatating tragedy to destroy this product, tenderly grown, hand picked, processed expertly, aged, and shipped halfway across the world to tea drinkers eager to enjoy the fruit of all this labour. This tea can not be reproduced/replaced. Free the tea!

UK Customs should be looking at individual cases with a sense of leniency currently as business owners up and down the country are literally struggling to comply with all the new requirements. Obviously there will be mistakes - if UK Customs could facilitate the easy ammending of documents, or the simple making-good of these genuinely innocent errors, they would do the most they could to help the economy to recover and thrive at a time it is facing 2 major obstacles (Covid and Brexit).
