The Free The Piercings Committee (FTPC) movement asserts that students deserve the right to express their identities authentically, as the freedom to choose one’s appearance is intrinsically linked to developing a confident, verbal voice within the school community. This petition serves to demonstrate to school leadership that student voices matter and that current restrictive policies are fundamentally unfair, especially since students are currently denied any opportunity to help decide the rules that govern their own bodies. We believe that students should be able to wear whatever piercings they choose freely, as personal expression does not ruin the school’s reputation; instead, our administration should focus on more significant academic and community achievements to enhance our standing rather than policing jewelry. Furthermore, even the use of clear "retainer" piercings should be an acceptable and supported option for those who wish to maintain their piercings discreetly without facing disciplinary action. By signing this petition, you are demanding a shift toward a more inclusive environment where the "Standard of Professionalism" is redefined to respect individual autonomy and where students are finally given a seat at the table regarding the policies that affect their daily lives.
