Texas covid cases have gone down 19 percent since lifting mask mandates. We all know the masks don't work. It's time to end the mandates and allow people to make decisions on how they want t to stay safe from a virus with a 99.7 chance of survival.

The declaration of a state of emergency was never meant to be continually extended and any extension must demonstrate evidence that it's warranted and be supported by a legislative majority. Not only do we need an immediate end to the state of emergency and all of the mandates associated with it, but we also need legislation to ensure this can never happen again.
As it currently stands, the governor is operating like a dictator, issuing extensions of the state of emergency and any mandates he sees fit - all without any legislative oversight, demonstrable proof of its necessity, or public input of any kind. In addition, and rather conveniently for the governor, his state of emergency and the resulting closures or transition to virtual operations of the court system and nearly every public forum have made it extremely difficult for people to challenge both the appropriateness and the legality of such actions.
There is no justification for this current state of emergency.
