The bullying of small companies who are not in direct competition with backcountrydotcom is unacceptable. It may be legal but that does not make it right. We are passionate about the outdoors and the sport of backcountry skiing. And we expect the companies we do business with to respect other businesses that serve this community of backcountry users. Half hearted mea culpas with no action behind them to rectify the serious damage you have done to these businesses will not satisfy this market. Do the right thing.

Firing the lawyers that you hired to do your bidding is not a fix. It's not the lawyers fault they followed directions. Sticking with the same firm and changing directions would have shown that you owned up to this, as firing them indicates they are to blame.

Ridiculous. Thanks for sharing, I had no idea. Until they fix this I'll steer well clear of their site. Just not worth it to support a business so blind to their core constituency.

The impact of this is a much bigger wave than just those companies who were threatened and/or had to close their doors. With the number of us boycotting Backcountry.com they may be forced to lay off employees due to depressed sales, loss of profits, etc.
May of us want backcountry.com to make amends, make this right, compensate those companies who had legal fights and name changes but how do you appropriately compensate a company whom you drove out of existence? How do you make it right to a family who lost their dream because of your greed? How do you truly apologise and make amends? I don't know the answers to these questions but I do know it's the small shops I will continue to focus my purchases with.
Unfortunately we can't simply live happily ever after because there are too many greedy, power hungry asshats.
