I embarrassed to admit how much I’ve bought from this company over the years; I had no idea I was funding them to bully small businesses!

“Amend”: Directly and individually addressing each business that you had contact with and harmed. Listening to them and helping them, in any way you can, to right your wrongs, INCLUDING direct cash payment to them for their money spent as a result of your bullying and greedy actions.

Along with backcountry.com, I hope we can all learn something from this and move on.

It was not creative genius to come up with the word backcountry. This is an ideal and represents the remote environment removed from the hustle and bustle of urban life in which so many people find renewal of spiritual energy. A company that promotes ownership of the word "backcountry" truly does not understand this concept. Until the company BCDC makes right the many wrongs toward the companies who also used the work backcountry to help promote an understanding of the concept of appreciating the wild country I cannot hold any respect for them.

In the “apology” statement backcountry.com issued the term, “our community” was used which is a misnomer. We are not part of your antics and the definition of community is the furthest thing from your actions as a corporation.

While I understand the importance of protecting trademarks it seems a cowardly way to do so via threatening those that are not a threat and obviously unable to defend themselves. I suspect the boycott will expand to European backcountry.com brands unless amends are made to those who have been absolutely unfairly affected.

I've always loved the deals on gear and customer service from my gearhead...If you feel what the small businesses felt that you brought lawsuits against and truly experienced it, we will be able to see in your words and actions if you truly recognize what you've done.

Their pathetic “apology” only encourages me to boycott Backcountry even further.

You can't own a word that has been around so long and is a common term.
