I believe everyone deserves a chance at redemption. I know some of these men personally and I know given a chance (Earl Bieler) would turn their lives around and be great positive forces in the community rather than a waste of life in prison. What's the worst thing that can happen if given parole!? They screw up and go back? There's a higher chance of being hit by a bus and killed than by a ex-con, a bigger chance a humpback whale will eat you than a random re-offense of the same crime by a parolee. Given the chance most the men in The Maine State Prison would thrive in our community and become successful. I mean come on people you say you want less taxes, well here's the way to make that happen. Make rules, make steps, make programs. Most of all MAKE PROGRESS THIS IS NOT THE 1800'S!!!! The men behind those walls deserve a second chance! Some only had one and we all make mistakes some are just hidden while others are seen! Seek forgiveness not vengeance!!! Give the guy a second chance the crime he committed to get sent to prison in the first place was committed when he was a young man, probably undiagnosed for his mental illness. Allow Richard to show that he is a grown and a changed man.

I feel the prison should be 100 percent at fault due to ignoring his wishes about not being around sex offenders. I have kids and feel the same way and put in his position I couldn't say I wouldn't have done the same. Give him a lesser sentence or parole

This man should not get more time for killing a person in prison especially a sex offender that destroyed a child’s life if anything he should get what he got for time he was a kid 19 when sent to prison we all make mistakes and the prison system is supposed to be about rehabilitation this is not that at all solitary confinement is torture and all the time he has done in there is enough to drive the strongest person crazy

This is outrageous for a man that protected current and future victims of a monster to be punished for defending the innocent.
