I am a recreational angler and i believe that these bans and limitations placed on us are totally unfair and hypocritical. Me and 95% of anglers catch and SAFELY release most of the fish we catch and yet are subject to regulations tighter than these super trawlers that are not only taking more fish than the sea can keep producing, but are also raping the sea and all kinds of marine life and their habitats by destroying coral beds and ocean reafs. The worst part of this is that it is done for nothing other than profit. The amount of seafood i see wasted in my local supermarket is disgusting and this is happening all over the country and indeed all over the world, we are taking far too much. The price of fresh fish is also downright disgraceful and a kin to daylight robbery, please do something before it is too late. Ban these super trawlers, look at the amount of waste that is produced by the stores that buy from these trawlers because they are buying more than they can sell which is proof of how much is being excessively taken. Take back our british sea from these foreign ships looking to profit from our fish stocks, put in place no fishing zones and marine conservation locations around the border of our country and maybe others will follow suit and the sea will once again be teaming with life . Theres no need for so much to be taken and sold in stores , the recreational angler is more than capable of taking just what we need and no more so why cant these trawlers do the same? Better yet ban all trawlers and make it so fish must be caught on a rod and reel... we can provide for ourselves and much more responsibly and conservatively than these trawlers. And i know not everyone can fish for them selves but maybe this is something that should be taught to the younger generation from now on, lets take our sea back from these pirates.
