What is happening in the Family Courts today is deeply alarming. Increasingly, we are witnessing a pattern: when mothers raise concerns about abuse, their children are not protected — instead, they are removed, and custody is often transferred to the alleged abuser. These life-changing decisions are made under the veil of secrecy, with little transparency and devastating consequences.
Why is it a crime for a mother to seek the return of her child?
Why is it not a crime to take children away from the mothers who raised them, loved them, and protected them — often single-handedly?
Nicola Fox is not a criminal. She is a mother, an Irish citizen, and a woman of courage — jailed for trying to reunite with her son and for challenging a system that too often punishes protective mothers.
We ask:
Why has the Irish Government remained silent while one of its own citizens — and an Irish child — is caught up in this injustice?
