To whom it may concern,

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the ongoing detention and imprisonment of Naga political prisoners of war. The Naga people have been struggling for their right to self-determination for decades, and the Indian government's continued use of force and repression has resulted in numerous human rights violations, including the detention and imprisonment of political prisoners.

We call upon the Indian government to release all Naga political prisoners of war immediately and unconditionally. These prisoners have been detained without trial for years, and their continued imprisonment is a violation of their basic human rights.

We urge the Indian government to respect the right to self-determination of the Naga people and to engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve the conflict. Imprisoning political prisoners does not contribute to a peaceful and just solution to the conflict. Instead, it only perpetuates the cycle of violence and repression.

We also call upon the international community to support the release of Naga political prisoners and to pressure the Indian government to respect human rights and engage in peaceful dialogue.

We believe that the release of Naga political prisoners is an important step towards building trust and creating a conducive environment for peaceful resolution of the conflict. It is time for the Indian government to demonstrate its commitment to human rights and the rule of law by releasing all Naga political prisoners of war immediately and unconditionally.

Sincerely,

Naga-American Council

Updates

March 12, 2023

I have spent this week drafting formal letters to international human rights observers regarding the current status of these detainees. We are securing legal counsel to review the documentation of each case to ensure our presentation to the relevant government offices is airtight.

The scale of this response confirms the necessity of our next move. Legal counsel is now reviewing the formal delivery requirements for the executive offices involved. I am currently coordinating a briefing for international human rights observers to outline the specific cases of those held.

Nagalim Government has every right to collect taxes within Nagalim. Thus, money collected as tax is not illegal; and those involved in doing so, are not to be treated as criminal

Release the prisoners immediately if GoI is sincere and serious about the ceasefire.
