Target: Freeing Larry Langford

On December 1, 2008, Langford, along with investment banker William B. Blount and former state Democratic Chairman Al LaPierre, was arrested by the FBI on a 101-count indictment alleging conspiracy, bribery, fraud, money laundering, and filing false tax returns in connection with a long-running bribery scheme. His public corruption trial ended on October 28, 2009 with convictions on 60 counts, and resulted in his automatic removal from office.

On March 5, 2010, Langford was sentenced to 15 years in prison by a federal judge in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was also fined more than $119,000.

Even though Larry Langford, might have taken some bribes, he had a well thought out agenda and jobs plan that would help reenergize the city of Birmingham. The plan was already bringing back jobs to the western and northern communities in Birmingham. He rebuild struggling communities and brought down the crime rate from those communities. Larry Langford brought the Davis and Fed Cup to the city of Birmingham, despite push back from other members, it brought much needed revenues and job opportunities.

The city of Birmingham, needs Larry Langford. Larry Langford brought back the Magic in the Magic City. Don't let Birmingham be the forgotten city of the South, Atlanta has already forgotten about Birmingham, because Birmingham doesn't want to move into the 21st century. It needs a strong leader to push it into the 21st century, and that leader is LArry Langford. That is why Larry Langford needs to be released from prison.

I hear by, sign this online petition giving my full support for the release of former Birmingham, Alabama mayor Larry Langford from federal prison.

Mr. Landford was a man that made young individuals appreciate the opportunities that was given to them in the city of Fairfield. When he was in office we knew that something positive was going to happen for the low class economy.

Really? The News says Free Langford due to illness, the Petition also says Free him to run Fairfield. Make up your lies?!?! Why does he get to break laws and be freed because he is ill or they need or want him in Fairfield when there are people in Alabama prisons sick that didn't even break laws but were there. They can't get FREED by the government. WTF? People please get all the real facts before signing this BS Petition. It is not right, nor fair nor justice that he be freed of his time. He is a felon who committed crimes as well as any other inmate in the prison systems. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. If he is FREED, we need a petition to FREE Alabama inmates who are not guilty as well as sickly.

Free the mayor who brought many new programs to revitalize Birmingham, and who pushed the City Council measure to rename the Birmingham Airport in honor of the Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth.
