It is a little crazy in Amman these days. While Jordanians surely have obligations to future generations, our more immediate obligation is toward those now alive. There is no moral justification for making them the fodder for a higher quality of life of those yet to be born, or even for the maintenance of the present quality of life. The current handpicked (unelected) government is under mounting assault for its failure to deliver tangible material improvements for the vast majority of impoverished Jordanians.

There have been several recent human rights violations conducted by the Jordanian regime which have caused severe strife for those subjected to cruel and inhumane punishment. Several human rights and anti-corruption activists were thrown in jail at the hands of the King's Gestapo-like security forces.

Jordanian authorities continue their crackdown on free speech, including buying support from judges, teachers, journalists and media outlets, harassing political activists, and reform-minded figures. On Saturday, July 25, 2020, state prosecutors charged Mr. Nasser Nawasreh, the head of Jordan Teachers Association (JTA), 100 thousand members, with incitement over anti-government speech. Jordanian security forces arrested several members of JTA, raided its offices and shut it down for two years. JTA has been urging the government to pay their overdue bonuses and stop interfering in the social security savings and pensions of their 100,000 members.

Recently, four (4) senior judges, namely Mohammed Ajarmah, Saeed Shraidah, Omar Majali, and Jehad Dreidi resigned from the bench due to constant and nonstop interference in their work and rulings by officials and the intelligence community. On July 14, 2020, the Chairman of the Elections Commission, Dr. Khalid Kalaldah, admitted that the former Chief of the General Intelligence Directorate (GID) managed to get more than 80 members of Parliament elected via ballot stuffing and bribery scheme. It cannot get worse than that!

We urge you and your official office and authority to put more pressure on King Abdullah to introduce genuine judicial, legislative and political reforms that guarantee freedom of speech, assembly, and justice, and reinstate Jordan Teachers Association (JTA) immediately.

إنها حالة من الجنون في عملية صنع القرار تعصف العاصمة عمان هذه الأيام. في حين أن الأردنيين بالتأكيد لديهم التزامات تجاه الأجيال القادمة، فإن التزام الحكومة الاردنية الفوري هو تجاه أولئك الذين هم على قيد الحياة الآن. لا يوجد مبرر أخلاقي لجعل الاردنيين الان يعانون مرّ الحياة من أجل جودة حياة أعلى لأولئك الذين لم يولدوا بعد، أو حتى للحفاظ على نوعية الحياة السيئة الحالية التي يعايشونها بالم وحسرة. تتعرض الحكومة الاردنية المعينة (غير المنتخبة) لسيل جارف و متزايد من الانتقادات بسبب فشلها في تقديم تحسينات معيشية ملموسة للغالبية العظمى من الأردنيين الفقراء. لقد وقعت عدة انتهاكات لحقوق الإنسان في الآونة الأخيرة من قبل الحكومة الأردنية مما ادى الى خلق من حالة صراع البقاء لأولئك الذين تعرضوا لعقوبات قاسية، لا انسانية من قبل الجهات الاستخبارية والرسمية. حيث تم إلقاء القبض على العديد من المعلمين، اساتذة جامعات واكاديميين، نشطاء حقوق انسان و دعاة اجتثاث الفساد في السجن على أيدي عناصر من المخابرات والامن. تواصل السلطات الأردنية قمعها لحرية التعبير، بما في ذلك شراء الدعم من القضاة والمدرسين والصحفيين ووسائل الإعلام ومضايقة النشطاء السياسيين والشخصيات ذات العقلية الإصلاحية. اتهم الادعاء العام، يوم السبت 25 يوليو 2020 ، الدكتور ناصر نواصرة، رئيس نقابة المعلمين الأردنية ، تضم 100 ألف عضو، بتهمة التحريض على الحكومة وهي في الاصل مطالبات باعادة العلاوات التي تم الاتفاق والتوقيع عليها بين الطرفين وعدم التدخل في وكف اليد الحكومة عن رواتبهم التقاعدية. حيث اعتقلت عناصر من الأمن والمخابرات اعضاء مجلس النقابة وداهمت مكاتبها وأغلقتها لمدة عامين. لا احد ايضاً يستطيع ضمان نزاهة المحاكم. في الآونة الأخيرة، استقال أربعة (4) من كبار القضاة في السلك القضائي، وهم محمد العجارمة ، وسعيد الشريدة ، وعمر المجالي ، وجهاد الدريدي، بسبب التدخل المستمر و المتواصل في عملهم وأحكامهم القضائية من قبل المسؤولين الرسميين وأفراد المخابرات. في 14 يوليو 2020 ، اعترف رئيس هيئة الانتخابات، الدكتور خالد كلالدة ، ان الرئيس السابق لمديرية المخابرات العامة (GID) تمكن من مساعدة انتخاب أكثر من 80 عضوًا في البرلمان عن طريق حشو صناديق الاقتراع والرشوة. نحثكم جميعاً من منطلق تعاونكم وعلاقتكم مع النظام الاردني على استخدام كل نفوذكم السياسي، الاقتصادي والدبلوماسي، لممارسة المزيد من الضغط على ملك الاردن عبد الله لإدخال إصلاحات قضائية وتشريعية وسياسية حقيقية تضمن حرية التعبير والتجمع والعدالة، واعادة نقابة المعلمين وحقوقهم الكامله الى نصابها بدون تردد او تاخير.
