This is a failure on the part of the Texas state justice system when a rapist can receive a lighter sentence than a baker of hash brownies?! Absurd and unjust! Free Jacob!

The War on Drugs is a failure! It's the "war" that is ruining lives, not the drugs. A more appropriate term is The War on Personal Freedom, just like any other war. Free Jacob Lavoro now!!! David Wise won't see the inside of a prison while this young man could for the rest of his life is sick! Do the right thing or this will be a prime example of failure of the Justice Service of Texas and the United States!

I find it absolutely ridiculous that Ethan Couch can get a slap on the wrist for killing four people whilst driving drunk, but this boy is facing life in prison for a weed brownie. The punishment should fit the crime. Time to stop punishing people so severely for something that is less harmful than alcohol.

I don't see crime, nor any need for punishment. The people doing this to our citizens are crazy and power hungry losers. They just want to turn other people's lives to shit to feel better about themselves. It is sad and illegal.

This guy gets life for weed brownies. Rapists and sex offenders don't even get past 3 years. Makes no damn sense. Free him. Lock up the pedophiles and rapists for life!!

Not even murderers, rapist or child molesters are faced with such a harsh sentence.

All weed does is that it makes you calm, laidback, giggly and crave for sugary food. One should not smoke anything because it causes cancer and all and it wrecks your health. That's my opinion. Everyone should get the opportunity though, to be young and try crazy stuff that does not harm or kill other people and animals. That is exactly what he did and he did not harm a single soul while doing it. I'm signing the petition as born and raised resident from the Netherlands.

It's called the "Justice System". Not the "Feed Money To Privately Owned Prisons On A Technicality System". Please demonstrate that our laws don't exist to be this petty.

It's a kid who made a mistake and the punishment is way to severe for the crime.. and also a complete waste of tax dollars?

This is a travesty. I feel for his parents, this punishment is insanely too harsh.

A prime example of overly harsh sentences for first time drug offenders and ignorance for considering the entire 1 pound of brownies as the amount arrested for instead of the few drops of hash oil that was actually in them.
