Jassim Hayat (17 Years) and Fathiya Hayat (40 Years), brother and sister were arrested from their home on 30/Sept/2011. The reason for their detention was because their area was experiencing political unrest, and two unknown persons fleeing the riot police hid inside their house uninvited. The police surrounded their house, and barged in without any warrant and arrrested the whole house-hold, i.e. The father (Abd-Ali Hayat), the mother (Saada Ghanami), the son (Mohammed Hayat), the other son (Jassim Hayat), the sister (Fathiya Hayat) and the two wanted persons. The family experienced interrogations and interviews with the Public Prosecutioner, which resulted in all being released except Fathiya and Jassim Hayat being held on 45-days detention pending a court appearance. After 45 days, they were taken to Public Prosecutioner Office, where the session was less than 3 minutes and the Judge ordered a 45-day extention for both Fathiya and Jassim Hayat. Their next appearance in court is on 5/Jan/2012. Both Jassim and Fathiya Hayat are inncoent of the accusation (Harbouring Fugitives), they were at home residing within the confines of their abode, and have no political agenda, no previous records, and have played no role in the recent unrest in Bahrain. Jassim is a university student at AMA University, in his 2nd year of Business Studies. He is very popular with his friends, humourous and enjoying his teenage years. Fathiya is a volunteer in her local mosque, teaching young kids how to pray, she is a regular annual visitor to Hajj, and also suffers from stress and constant digestive pains. Her weight when she was detained was around 48 KG, her current weight is 30 KG. Your support of this petition is important to call for their immediate release, as they are both innocent of any wrong-doing, infact they are victims of injustice.
