This boy back then was a rock thrower every time he got into trouble. The investigation with what was an officer at the time should have never been on case and unqualified. Yakima county was known as the good old boy system. And most of these officers were so corrupt and especially with white officers with Hispanics. This child was wrongfully convicted due to a officer basically did not like Hispanics and abused his badge for wrong conviction. This kid now a man was wrongfully accused. Why they do not want to release because of it is going to cost wash state and Yakima county a law suit. You know the good old boy system from sunnyside to Yakima they all know each other and so many coverups. Get salas free for a corrupt officer should have never should have been on the case in the beginning. Watch the documentary on this. I grew up in sunnyside and know this family. We were not all perfect but by no means would kill anyone. Jr would never had the guts he would have just threw a rock and ran

This is absolutely a horrible travesty of justice thrown onto a child with zero reasoning or evidence, other than all of the evidence of his innocence that is being completely ignored.

I’ve read alot about this case. I truly feel this man is innocent. He needs to be released. Please give him another trial & show all the evidence. Or should I say lack of evidence. They also need to look at Ofelia. She’s not trustworthy. Even the victims brother doesn’t believe the right man is in prison. Pl help Junior.

I believe evidence was withheld or tampered with in Jrs trial. To me it is far worse to convict an innocent man than it is to free a guilty one. He deserves justice and he has not received it.

He deserves a new trial since at the very least the gf Ofelia is guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice. Her actions were not brought up at the trial and the crime scene was forever lost due to that. That is factual. The suspicious interaction she had with her b/f's family, who considered her part of theirs and that she was living with and gave birth to their nephew has suddenly disappeared, no longer speaking to them and recanted her promise about seeing the child at any time. Those are allegations that can be proven however, thus becoming factual. Then finally, whether due to the time of the crime, knowledge of gangs or the experience of the investigators, they left little documentation which shows the department may not have had the experience to be investigating a gang related case. Not leaving an accurate written record, following up on EVERY other suspect is a failure as a department and in doing their duty seeking justice. In simple terms, this is lousy and lazy police work. And if not, it is police work poorly done by investigators not up for the task because they are not trained in this area well enough to do so yet. Either way, it is enough for doubt. The jurors cannot weigh all evidence and give a true verdict based on the evidence when not given all the evidence. It leans the scale to one side or the other before the jury get the case. The case in itself is thin with one informant's testimony falling apart and Ofelia's actions never revealed in trial. There is no physical evidence. There could have been had the girlfriend not cleaned the truck which raises suspicions and other questions about her. If the justice system is to work and the courts are to be successful in fair trials, Salas must have a new trial. New investigators can clean up the mess from the inadequacies of the old investigation and follow the path of other suspects to get to the truth. This MUST be done for Jose's family, for justice and not having to question if a

Clearly a case of injustice, what is the real reason the latest judge has denied a retrial? Letting actual criminals go and imprisoning innocent people. Justice is a joke
