I think it is disgraceful that they think dancers over 18 have to wear tights as Irish dancing started from a tradition so it's all in tradition to wear what costume you want and what you wear on your legs

dancers should be able to wear which ever they like I under stand if it's a larger dancer it would look better but that's for them to do what they thing is best for them selfs

adults should be trusted to make their own decisions on what works best for their body type etcetera. Dictating what attire should be worn is discriminatory and disrespectful. Adults can make independent decisions. I can understand no wanting all color tights in competition. At the least, you could broaden the choices available and not simply dictate.

Besides agreeing to everything else that was said here before: what could be MORE traditional than white beautiful poodle socks on strong legs? Tights are usually used for the more modern dances. And what if all men go back to kilts - would they have to wear tights as well, being adults?! The commisiun should be proud to have so many adult dancers following their tradition - don't chase them away with silly rules and restrictions! Irish Dance should be about the dancing!

Over the years I have always associated An Commisiun with conservatism and way too outdated thoughts about how to keep the old tradition as it is. This new rule is going way too far! It discriminates all female dancers and offends me personally as a 24 year old woman. It is MY body and so it is MY decision what to wear at a feis!

I think it's the worst idea ever. being hot and sweaty will cause the tights to stick and distract us when dancing!

Tights make dancing more dangerous as they create slippage in both hard and soft shoes. And they are so hot, especially when coupled with a heavy long-sleeve Irish dress!

We're dancers for heavens sake and the whole point of dance is to create something fantastic with the body and the muscles we're proud of- not cover them up!

As someone who danced through my adult years in another organisation with the rule of having to wear black tights I hated it :(
Tights + sweat= gross infections ....
