Franklinton Advocacy Alert! STOP McDowell St. Church DEMOLITION

This is a very small site, and though it is convenient for the non-profit developer that it is owned by the city, other nearby sites will make a much more significant impact on the city’s critical need for affordable housing. I have heard that the city has reviewed, and turned down, proposals that would have retained parts of the church building and also responded to the immediate streetscape context.

These buildings create the community fabric. We are no one without history. Save it for the generations to come after us.

Stop destroying our heritage

The history of Franklinton deserves to be preserved as much as that of the Short North and German Village!

My family has been in this neighborhood over a hundred years.. this church was always apart of our lives..This is more than a church its history

save and restore this beautiful building.

Columbus can do better than this. Reuse and redesign are the answers!

Preserving this structure and incorporating it in any redevelopment adds value to the redevelopment by maintaining the historical value of Franklinton, a community and municipal asset that Franklinton is working hard to maintain and develop. These historical assets benefit the community and city in tangible and intangible ways. Preserving this historical asset also creates a more walkable community by giving residents places of interest to walk to or by. Please look at the preservation codes of cities with hugely successful reuse projects with historical value such as Denver.

This rehabilitation of historic buildings in Columbus is what has revitalized the neighborhoods surrounding the downtown area. I'm guessing very few people here want this except the developers looking to make a faster dollar. Are these people proposing to tear down a historic church local? Names, please?

I'm in Franklinton. I've always loved this church. It adds elegance and charm to our neighborhood. It would be tragic to lose it.,

Please save this beautiful church. Here in Delaware the Stratford Church has been converted into an architect’s office. It’s a great reuse of a beautiful building.

Please try to incorporate this church in your building plans. It could make a great community center for that development!!
