I honestly never imagined we would reach one thousand signatures when I first started this. This really belongs to all of you who took the time to speak up for our families. It is humbling to see how much this community cares about getting this right.

ASMS middle school homework is avg. 1.5 hours/night. This puts the kids at 5:00 before they can do anything else. I thought maybe a :30 minute shift might be good- this is way too big of a change with way too many complications.
Older kids need to get out before the little ones so they can babysit after school - so many families need this! It’s up to the parents to make sure their kids go to bed at an appropriate time to get enough rest. Please don’t change school start times.
Totally opposed to this. As a single working mom it is impossible for me to financially put both my elementary aged kids in before/after school care. In fact franklins solutions before/after school program doesn’t even have the open availability for additional students.
As the parent of a student who's extracurriculars start at 4:00 pm in Newton, this will be entirely unfeasable for my family. Also, was depending on my high schooler getting my middle schooler off the bus most afternoons.
I am concerned about the change as proposed right now, especially for elementary and middle school levels. O would like a longer research and additional, more in depth surveys of parents, teachers and students (likely high school, middle school) impacted.
Strongly opposed, please reconsider all implications for staff and their own families, as many will be looking for new jobs should this be implemented.

High school kids need to get out early for sports and other extra curricular activities. If they get out later, they would start missing school and not have a wide variety of activities for their college applications.
