Frack was an innocent raccoon I raised for 13 weeks. He was 2 days old when I found him. Texas Wildlife Rescue of Houston, Texas knew I was raising him to give him over to them to be released into the wild. This little guy was on the cover of the Port Lavaca Wave. (Volume 122, No. 78) The Texas game wardens, police, fire dept, and some city officials would come to Port Lavaca Lighthouse beach where my wife and I host for the RV park, to visit him and make sure he was doing ok. The police dept. called him the city mascot. My wife and I grew to love him as if he were our own child. After all he was, was'nt he? I taught him to find and eat bugs, to be scared of dogs, cats, people, and numerous other things. When my wife and I took him to Houston, 5 hours away to give him over, they gave us a paper that claimed to give him a number. Like a Social Security # so that we could go on-line and check on him. The next day the State of Texas Health Dept. called us to inform us that they were putting him down to be checked for rabies. We were livid. The woman said the Texas Wildlife Rescue center told her that is why we brought him there. I offered to take the 3000 dollar rabies shot to save his life but they said no. The Houston animal control wondered why we wanted him killed also. They called and asked his name and played with him before killing him. My wife and I have not quit crying. They said we would have rabbie results within 48 hours. It's been 11 days and still no results. Please dont let my little buddy die for nothing. Help me stop this group from killing Texas wildlife for nothing. How many animals have they killed, telling people they were "rescuing" them?!? I want answers... I want the people in charge fired. I want my friend to be alive.
