Four Day School Week (Parents & Community)

A 4 day school week is perfect for our community. With most of our parents working for the mines or working somewhere affiliated with the mines, they only have a 4 day work week. So the kids and parents will have more time together. In addition, the older kids in high school miss less class time due to traveling with sports teams.

A 4 day school week works great. Kids, parents and teachers actually love it! It is also cost effective to the district in building ecpenses.

This seems to alleviate a lot of problems in other districts. It's worth a try.

Please take a minute and fill this petition out. Parents in Elko and Spring Creek are being robbed of time and opportunities with their kids while the rest of the schools in the district and surrounding areas are on a 4 day school week. Elko and Spring Creek need to be on a 4 day school schedule to also help save money due to the $10 Million budget shortfall. The 4 day school schedule should be implemented before the district ever consideres reducing staff, administrators, and/or teachers.

This has proven to be very successful in Lincoln County. Growing up in Alamo, traveling all over the state for athletics meant lots of time out of the classroom. I wish they would have adopted it in the 90s when I attended. They have excelled in sports and academics since this transition and there are much fewer absences for medical care which occurs out of town. I think Lincoln County's proven track record has modeled how efficient this is in smaller rural areas.

We had four day school weeks in Battle Mountain before moving to Elko. BEST THING EVER! It really helped with Teacher burn out, as well as student burn out. Teachers that work five days a week have to be exhausted.

We miss the 4 day school week from lander county very much, and have been hoping for Elko to follow suit!

My older kids had a 4 day school week. They didn’t miss as much school for sports. I also saw better grades.

This will give teachers an actual time frame to get personal stuff done

4 day school week is a smart move for students especially athletes who have to miss school for sports. It also give teachers the opportunity to schedule less days off for appointments, meaning less substitutes needed. With the cost of fuel the district would save a lot in gas and wear and tear of the buses too.

This would greatly benefit my family in a huge way!

I have seen many positive impacts from other school districts going to 4 day school weeks.

Great for family time and less absences

4 day school is important in family life and would avoid Friday absences. This community has many parents who work a 4 day week and allows more family time
