This would be beneficial for the kids with having another day off to play sports or go out of town to doctor/dentist appointments.

With schools facing budget shortages, teacher burnout, and shortages of substitute teachers, this is a simple way to make the budget work. In addition, many studies show improved student performance and teacher retention. Rural districts like ours need this.

My question is, how will this affect the education of the children? Where will children go if the parents are at work? How will they make up the missed hours on Friday for education for the parents that are at work and cannot sit down to teach their child? What about food that is supplied to children these days for the kids relying on the food to eat because their parents cannot afford it? I Won’t support this until there is a clear plan in place that puts the priority of education and health before benefits of why people need Fridays off.

I think this would be good for the kids and teachers. I also think that we need to make sure we have the help for those parents that work or have special need kids to help with that Friday.

As a kindergarten teacher at Liberty Peak Elementary, I anticipate that there will be many benefits to a 4 day school week. I believe that teachers and students alike will be able to come back to school well rested and excited to be at school after 3 days off. I believe that teachers would need to spend less time at school working before and after work hours because there will be just a little bit less planning. Lastly, and most importantly, I believe that students would fee less burnt out and find school much more enjoyable when they also have more time for life experiences and things that are important to them at home. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Having a 4 day week will also mean my kids can have an extra day at their dad’s house who lives out of town.
