Hydration is a serious issue for all students on the SMU campus, from athletes trying to stay in top form to the average student trying to avoid dehydration. In a moment of poor planning, the new residence commons (Loyd, Armstrong, Crum, Kathy Crow, and Ware) were constructed with only a single water fountain on the first floor. This is a serious inconvenience for the roughly 1,250 students which call these residential commons home. Other commons across campus were built with a water fountain on every floor allowing easy access to drinking water for every student. This petition is to notify the school administration of our concern over this aspect of the new residential commons and to call for action on this issue. ive been talking to a couple of people in housing about why the new commons are set up this way and it sounds like they are finally looking at the floor plans. its honestly ridiculous that so many of us have to trek downstairs just to get a drink so thanks for sticking with me while i push them to fix this.

i honestly cant believe how fast this is gaining momentum and seeing everyone talk about the same struggle in the comments makes me feel way less annoyed by my own trek to the first floor. we finally have enough eyes on this to start pushing the admin for a real change which is just wild.

honestly just tired of running down 3 flights of stairs every time I need water during late night study sessions. fix this.
Living on the 4th floor its a real pain to go down to the first floor just to get a sip of water
We definitely need fountains on the floor 2-5 Students shouldn't have to walk all the way to the first floor to get a sip of water or fill up their bottles.
It would be great to have water fountains on all floors of the residence buildings.
It will be useful to have a fountain in all the floors so we dont need to walk too much for drinking water
Put between rooms 427 and 425 PLEASE
