The global petition to Connect Cuba to the free, uncensored internet encompasses the following points:
• Considering that Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights establishes an individual's right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
• Whereas all Cuban peoples have not had the full right to access information and knowledge and have been subjected to the willful ignorance of their human rights; and consequently countless atrocities and means of physical and psychological torture and harassment by the Cuban government.
• Considering that the Cuban government prevents the existence of various independent internet service providers on the Island and sets a price monopoly in order to impede access of the internet to the Cuban people.
• Considering that the Cuban government censors and monitors all internet access and any independent mechanisms of connecting to the internet on the Island. Under these conditions we demand that :
The Cuban people have the right to connect to the free internet, and can research, receive and disseminate information without restrictions and impositions.
The Cuban people can be free to choose from various internet service providers without the Cuban State acting as an intermediary.
The Cuban people are not censored or monitored for navigating the internet and can develop mechanisms for navigation and internet connection.

La petición mundial en favor de Conectar a Cuba al libre internet está fundamentada en los siguientes enunciados:
•Considerando que en el Artículo 19 de la Declaración Universal de Derechos Humanos se establece el derecho de toda persona a la libertad de opinión y de expresión; y que este derecho incluye el de no ser molestado a causa de sus opiniones, el de investigar y recibir informaciones y opiniones, y el de difundirlas, sin limitación de fronteras, por cualquier medio de expresión.
•Considerando que los pueblos que han carecido del derecho al pleno de acceso a la información y el conocimiento han sido sometidos al desconocimiento de sus derechos humanos, trayendo como consecuencias innumerables barbaries y torturas por parte de dictaduras totalitarias.
•Considerando que el gobierno cubano impide que existan varios proveedores de internet en la isla y establece precios monopólicos para que el pueblo no tenga acceso a internet.
•Considerando que el gobierno cubano censura y vigila cualquier mecanismo independiente de conexión a internet en la Isla. Bajo estas condiciones exijo que:
El pueblo cubano tenga derecho a conectarse libremente a internet, y a investigar y difundir información sin restricciones ni imposiciones.
El pueblo cubano sea libre de elegir entre varios proveedores de internet sin tener como intermediario al Estado cubano.
El pueblo cubano no sea censurado ni vigilado por desarrollar mecanismos de conexión y navegación a internet.

We ask that all Cubans enjoy the right to freely use the internet when this happens will signal democracy.Pedimos que todos los cubanos disfruten del derecho de usar la internet libremente, cuando esto ocurra será señal de democracia.
Hace aprox. un mes y medio el gob. de Cuba dijo no a las recomendaciones de las Naciones Unidas con respecto a la libre expresion, libre asociacion, elecciones libres, etc. Admiro el trabajo de Connect Cuba. Tal vez lo proximo seria llevar al gob de Cuba a una corte internacional fuera de las Naciones Unidas.
Siempre hemos creido que la no-iformacion/des=informacion desde su Cuna es el mayor factor que ha mantenido al Pueblo de la Isla de Cuba sometido a Fidel Castro.
El éxito del engaño está en la manipulación y en el adoctrinamiento, si internet logra entrar a Cuba la dictadura será desmoralizada y perderá el control de la información.
The cuban people. and not the group in today's government, must have the right to communicate freely and in such manner interpret the reality without the interference of his tiranic government, who pretend to interpret everything "in the name of the people" and tell the people his interpretation of the "reality" as an abdolute truth.

De acuerdo totalmente que no debe existir restricciones para la libre comunicación entre amigos y familiares a través de las redes, etc. Información es lo que necesita el hombre de hoy para decidir y para denunciar todo lo que estime según su derecho ciudadano.
