I am black and don't think the ROTC Building should be renamed for Brigadier General Nathan Bedford Forrest was a great general who deserves his rightful place in history.

The Forrest Hall does not need to be renamed as Nathan Bedford Forrest was a great general and part of history. He reached out and helped blacks after the civil war. He never got the recognition he rightfully deserved in history and now a small minority want to take away what is left which is just wrong as wrong can be.

NBF fought the enemies of this state with honor and dignity, willing to give his last breath if necessary to save our great State from its enemies. His military brilliance and tenacity outshine his mistakes and as such his name should continue to be on the ROTC building, this is a military honor for his military actions. A University should embrace the history and fight to protect the legacy of his Military Career.

My great, great, great grandfather fought and died for the Union and never lived to see his first child. I was MTSU during the 60's when this first came up. What next, get rid of 'Blue Raider'? What do you think that stands for? Study the history of Forrest. He was a great solder, but could and did change with the times and tried to lift up the former slaves.

If anything needs to be removed from MTSU its not the name of General Forrest one of the greatest heroes born in Tennessee but the name of McPhee a true embarrassment to all the people of Tennessee and the university of MTSU----Keep the name of General Forrest on the building.
