Upon a careful reflection of the attitude, conduct and reception of past SRCs and the current happenings surrounding the current Interim Management Committee with regard to the City Campus, the entirety of the student community upon consultation and receipt of feedback has found it necessary to petition your good office for the seceding of the City campus from the current SRC setup to form its own parastatal student governance structure by using the current existing structure at the law Department.

This decision, taken as a unanimous one was necessitated by the constant neglect of the campus by past and present SRCs from events to even ample representation on committees and a continued besmirching campaign against the department labeling us as haughty and problematic whenever we point out issues to them.

It is not a novelty for a city campus to run its own affairs student wise as this is existing in most universities with satellite and city campuses such as University of Ghana, Legon, University of Education Winneba and our mentoring Institution, Ghana Institute Of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

We believe that we are capable of running our own affairs in a manner befitting ourselves and would amply represent issues to the administration as they are without having to fall on a group that is disconnected with the realities on the ground and do little by way of effective representation for the city campus and the student body at large. They only seem interested in our affairs when it comes to the payment of dues but even with that, said paraphernalia hardly gets to the students as a whole. As we speak the current structure existing as an acting council is an illegitimate one which has continued to act ultra vires with no representation from the city campus.

We hope that our petition would be treated with urgency and the utmost importance it deserves, we are minded of the times we find ourselves and grateful for any assistance in that stead.
