This is segregation. Why would someone from outside the school be excluded from an event that they have been invited to by one of your senior students who are almost adults? This shows no respect or trust in your students' decision making abilities. Isn't one of the aims of schooling to teach students independence and responsibility?
By making this arbitrary rule you have removed an opportunity for your students to demonstrate their ever increasing maturity. They should be able to celebrate their achievements with whoever they choose. Students have wide and varied social circles and make friends at church groups, sports clubs, musical bands, volunteer groups and part time work to name a few.
Expectations of all students' and guests' behaviour for the evening should be communicated clearly, with non-compliance resulting in removal from the event.

Let the kids enjoy this wonderful celebration of completing their schooling life with the ones they want to share it with, there should be no restrictions they deserve to have the night they want and they have worked so hard to acheive

Let them make a choice, don't make it just another class get together but a night to remember with those most special to them. So many choices in life are restricted, don't make their celebration one of those restricted choices.

The teachers are allowed to bring their own partners... They dont have to take fellow teachers so we shouldnt have to take fellow students

As a student in year 10 at tyndale I really hope this works for the future. If you can't bring the people you love to your formal, after buying dresses/suits, shoes and many other expensive things to make yourself feel good AND paying for your ticket, it's a slap in the face to not be able to bring your partner if he/she does not attend Tyndale. If we arent allowed to bring outsiders, then we shouldnt have to pay for tickets

I pay for my child to go to school and get an education that is all. if the school wants to throw in a formal that which I may add has to be paid for by students attending, I'm sure it won't be hard to get their date to pay for a ticket also. my child and as well as the other students should be able to bring who they'd like to formal without being questioned or told no.

why we can't bring our own choice in dates is beyond me. it's our only formal, why aren't we allowed to bring the people who we care about?
