Final supporters
This is a petition made by the students of Dr. Cortlandt V.R. Creed high school, which is currently planned to be closed at the end of this 2017-18 school year. We voiced our final opinions stating that we are against the closing of Creed on May 14, 2018, at the New Haven board of education meeting. However, the board decided in a five to two vote to close Creed indefinitely. With your help, we the students may appeal to the state board to reevaluate the district's decision. Creed is home to many bright young minds and a staff that cares for students intellectually, physically, and emotionally. The devastation that derived from the board's decision not only because the family will be separated; kids will be fed to the sharks of public schools, and educators will be forced to fight for their livelihood. Not only is there no concrete evidence that shows our kids will be placed in the magnet schools of their choice, but our teachers lack job security. The only definite way for them to work is to bump others out of their current positions, which throws other families out into the wilderness. We are all responsible for one another, every act counts, and every opinion matters. We are the howling wolves, no matter what, and the pack is stronger together than it is apart.

Hyde/Creed addresses needs that larger schools cannot ... And has met these with an astounding track record ... I challenge the BOE to do the long-term stats on our graduates ( college degrees, graduate degrees, careers which give back to the community, coaching, doctors, lawyers, media presence, to name a few) ... And that is just from the short 8 years that I was blessed to teach there.
I am petitioning for Creed High School to stay open. It is important to our community and to the students that attend the school. It provides a small classroom setting that is focused on the achievement and success of the students. As an alumni parent of two children who have attended the school, it is vitally important that this school remain open.
Creed and Hyde have always demonstrated greatness both on and off the court. I have many great memories and bonds with their coaches and players. Always had the best sportsmanship in the shoreline and we consider Creed to be extended family to the Valley Regional Basketball team. Please reconsider closing this great school with a proud history
Save creed. My daughter is devastated that she has to go to a new school for her last 2 years of high school. Not fair for the kids.
As a student here, this is severely disrupting my education. I came into New Haven for a fresh start at a different school, and now I might not be able to stay in the district anymore. I’m distraught and frustrated; I know many other students share this sentiment as well.

There are schools that are way worse in New Haven and out of all of them they want Creed close? New Haven will regret that. #savecreed I'm praying that the board doesn't close Creed. Hopefully it still stays open for another great school year. -Fellow Friend from ESUMS

Every day I am more and more amazed at just how tight this Creed family is. I will miss the kids, the parents, my colleagues immensely. I can’t think of a single person who will better off for scattering this community to the winds.
